Featuring Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Pusha T outta The Clipse.

Also, Joe Budden - Who.

And the new TIP joint, T.I. - Whatever You Like (video’s on youtube).

While I’m posting new hip hop stuff, here’s another dude who’s gonna be big soon. Along the same sorta lines as The Cool Kids or Wale and that kinda style. This guy goes by the name of Kid Cudi, and this be his debut mixtape “A Kid called Cudi”. Enjoy.

While I’m on my hip hop tip… here’s a new video from Clipse (my favourite hip hop duo of all time).

I’m forced to post this simply because they’re sporting a Man United shirt in the vid… when was the last time you saw that in hip hop? (something tells me that’s a marketing tool… and it worked)

I know I’m late on this one.

One of the dopest rappers around at the moment, Wale, put out this tape about a month ago.

It’s called ‘The Mixtape About Nothing’ and this guy is one of the freshest rappers out right now. I’m sick of people saying he’s the next Kanye or the next Lupe - dude is the first Wale. He’s rapping about stuff aside from girls, drugs or cars which is where the comparisons come from, I guess. He’s out of Washington D.C. and is recently signed to a seven-figure deal with Interscope (so expect big things to follow). I’ve posted a few of his videos and his tracks before, but I just haven’t got round to putting this up for some gay reason.

Definitely worth checking out if you’re into hip hop away from the 50 Cent stuff. It’s better than 90% of the albums I’ve picked up this year, that’s for sure.

Wale. A Mixtape About Nothing. Download it now.

If you hadn’t already guessed, there’s a Seinfeld theme… dope stuff. Track six “The Kramer” is highly recommended.

I posted a link to download Nas’ new “Nigger” album last week, but as soon as I put that up then the music videos started to come through.

Despite producing an album about how the afro-american community need to break free from the shackles of modern day slavery, and “answering to the man”, Nas still had to please the label heads at Def Jam and put a couple of radio friendly hits on the record. Oh the irony. One of those tracks is called “Hero”, and features vocals from Keri Hilson (what song doesn’t these days?) and production from Polow Da Don (what song doesn’t these days?). It couldn’t be more commercial if it tried… anyway, here’s the vid:

Slightly more apt is the track “Sly Fox”, a track dealing with Fox and its portrayal of afro-american community. Didn’t even know they were making a video for it, but here it is:

Nice to have Nas back in the system, even if the “Nigger” concept is 50% genuine and 50% gimmick.

… about Lil Wayne.

His new album is actually pretty good.

:/

“For those that didn’t get the memo, my name is Jay-Z and I’m pretty fucking awesome”

Jay absolutely tore Glastonbury down on Saturday night. Looks like the crowd enjoyed it too.

Here’s the full performance for those that ain’t seen it…

Unstoppable.

Just come across this video, from new rapper NY Oil.

It’s one of the only music videos to ever be banned from Youtube. This is the animated version. If anybody has the link to the original, throw it my way.

Pretty good song and concept. This, for me, is proper hip hop music - not the Lil Wayne/50 Cent shit. And this is the kind of stuff that I’m hoping for on the new Nas album.

1,005,545 people bought Lil Wayne’s new album, “The Carter III”, in its first week.

Seriously?

1,005,545 people thought “Lollipop” was a good enough first single to warrant spending £10 or so on an entire album of similar stuff?

1,005,545 people are buying this ‘greatest rapper alive’ bullshit?

1,005,545 think this guy is hip hop at its best?

1,005,545 people out there are idiots.

(To put all of this into context. It took 10 years for Nas’ classic debut album, Illmatic, to go platinum and surpass 1,000,000 sales.)
